Mini Decluttering

Get these mood boosting benefits in under 10 minutes.

There are many benefits of decluttering, but not all of us aspire to be Maria Kondo. Instead of working your way towards minimalism you can use the process of decluttering for a quick mood boost. No matter how organized you are, there is always a small space that you can pair down. Here are a few of our favorites.

Set up a digital wallet

If you are still carrying around gift cards, loyalty cards, or many different credit cards, a digital wallet can make paying easier and reduce what you carry in your wallet. Setup can be simple and you will feel lighter when you are done.

Clean off your keychain

It’s not longer (was it ever) in style to look like a janitor when pulling out your keys. Take off all those extra keys you don’t use, old fobs, and extra jangling things.

Minimize kitchen duplicates

A quick cleanse of your kitchen drawers or cabinets is a way to remove bulk by ridding yourself of duplicates you don’t use. Things like multiple sets of measuring cups, old warped spatulas, choppers or other kitchen gadgets that are gathering dust, can go in a donation bin or in the trash/recycling.

Delete photos from your phone

A quick clean up that you can do from just about anywhere is to clean out your camera roll. In between those special moments are photos and screenshots taking up memory on your phone and can cause frustration when you are looking for something.

Remove unused apps

A phone menu cleanup is another way to create calm in a place where many of us spend loads of time, our phone screens. Delete those apps you don’t use, the old version of Candy Crush, or other icons taking up screen space that you simply don’t need.

Clear out expired condiments

Condiments live a long time when refrigerated, so if yours is past its expiration date, it has really been too long. Once they are opened that shelf life gets shortened. Keep mustard up to 2 years, ketchup up to one year, and mayo and most salad dressings can be used 1-2 months after opening.
